BASEMENT CINEMA & SMART HOME – WEST MIDLANDS

This family home was having a basement conversion to a Cinema Room, Bar and Gym, with Sky Q, Media players and CCTV distributed to 8 rooms, some with in-ceiling speakers, and music on the terrace too. A heating control system was also installed enabling individual control of each room rather than the ‘house on / house off’ system. A TV disguised as a picture ensured the formal lounge retained it’s exquisite style.

HOUSE OF FRASER TECHNOLOGY FLOOR - BELFAST

We do a lot of installation work for the company behind the new Technology Floor at House of Fraser Belfast. We were asked to assist with various installations in the main showroom, including two interesting 4k UHD (Ultra High Definition) & HDR (High Dynamic Range) TVs. One in the Champagne bar and the other a “Wallpaper TV” which is just 2.5mm thick – Yes – 2.5mm thick. All the power and electronics are kept out of the way using a super slim cable and the screen hangs on the wall using magnets

DESIGN CONSCIOUS MUSIC LOVER - DUBLIN

An installation we did for Bang & Olufsen Ireland. A great looking series of wall speakers which pack enough punch to give a party level of sound, retaining the quality of the audio for this design conscious music lover.

BANG & OLUFSEN DUBLIN

We have installed numerous TVs and speakers in to this prestigious Dublin high street store, and also in to many of their customer’s homes.
We also programmed the Lutron HomeWorks lighting control system to give an evening light show once the store closes, briefly highlighting one product, and then another, and so on

LIVING ROOM – DUBLIN

A simple lighting design and control system where we were restricted by utilising only the existing circuits. The system is fully customisable by the client and they can save any settings they like for easy recall with the touch of a button, or from their smart phones/tablets

GATWICK RESIDENTIAL TAKE-OVER

This was a ‘take over’ project when the client wanted to move to a more ‘main stream’ control system and incorporate some upgrades. The upgrade was seamless with the new control system running along side the old system until everyone was ready to move over. Improvements were made to the cinema room, and much of the lighting control system programming. Voice control was also added

HIGH END STUDENT ACCOMMODATION – PEBBLE MILL, BIRMINGHAM

18 TVs ranging from 49” to 80” were installed in to the communal areas of this high end student accommodation at the old Pebble Mill site in Birmingham along with a 6 screen digital signage system. The audio & video covered gaming areas, conference and study rooms, presentation areas. There was even a private dining area, with audio. The gym had 3 large TVs, ceiling speakers and instructors can connect their microphones to the gym system for classes. If that wasn’t enough, we supplied and installed a 4K projector, 3m screen and surround sound system for the cinema room! Things have certainly changed since we were at university

WORCESTERSHIRE RESTAURANT BAR & ROOF TERRACE

This project initially required a detailed audio design to assist with the planning permission application, and demonstrate that ‘audio spill’ would be within acceptable parameters for local residents. The design also needed to give sufficient volume within the bar and roof terrace for clients to enjoy a good night out partying. The main contractor ran all the cabling and installed the 38 speakers & subwoofers. We returned to install the amplifiers and controllers in the headend, and commission the system. It was set up so that the staff could easily control what was happening where, and only senior management could increase the volume levels above preset levels. We also designed the network cable infrastructure for the POS, WiFi and network

WORCESTERSHIRE FAMILY & PARTY ROOM

The brief for this project was to provide audio, lighting design, and lighting control for a space used day to day by the family. We also needed to provide for lots of partying at the weekends! The number of different RGBW circuits was higher than usual, but the client loved the ability to have each different space highlighted with a different colour – and they can simply choose from thousands of colours using a ‘colour wheel’. Audio was provided by in-ceiling speakers and an amplifier they could connect to via Bluetooth, so both they and they guests can simply play music & radio from their phones

LARGE LUXURY LINCOLNSHIRE HOME

This was quite some project with 18 rooms of 4k video (SKY Q, Movie Servers, BluRay, & CCTV), 21 areas for audio, two surround sound systems, both with drop down screens and projectors, X camera CCTV, door and gate entry, lighting control. This is all spread over the main house, a swimming pool / gym / party area, a garden house, and a garage with an office above. A terrific project, and a terrific client, but we are not permitted to use images from the finished job. So here are a couple of the works in progress, which they kindly agreed to

MEDIA ROOM - GUILFORD

This was a really interesting project where a the TV had to be completely hidden in the main room. We fabricated this unit off site, and installed it so that the local contractor could finish it to match the rest of the room. We also supplied and installed a drop down projector screen, and a projector which came out of the wall as there wasn’t enough ceiling height for it to be located above

ASSISTED LIVING SMART HOME – WEST MIDLANDS

Something with a slightly different application of our usual skills and solutions. This project was for a client with a degenerative disease and the brief was to keep them as active and involved in family life for as long as possible. The system brought together all the TVs, Sky, Media, Lighting Control, Heating Control, Video Intercom at the gate, and CCTV, all in to an easy to use interface. Facial recognition brings up a ‘home’ screen automatically, taking them straight to the parts they use the most. We were pleased to donate a surround sound system to make the family movie time a bit more special.

COUNTRY HOUSE - MALVERN

We were approached to assist with finding a ‘better value’ solution for lighting control and media distribution in this large country home. A more cost-effective lighting control system was provided, whilst retaining the high aesthetic standards set by the interior designer. We even ended up supplying a significant amount of the lights too. The house was cabled to support high definition video distribution and multiroom audio. This project went on to win several awards.

MULTI AWARD WINNING STEAK HOUSE - BIRMINGHAM

We were approached by this fantastic and very popular establishment to help give a different feel to the restaurant at different times of the day. There is no natural daylight here – it is located in underground vaults. For their lunchtime business customers they needed a brighter, whiter light. For the evening clients a more relaxed and romantic setting. Re-cabling wasn’t an option so we sourced and tested retro-fit-able lighting control system and installed it overnight so the business didn’t need to close at all. The staff simply select a button for ‘lunch’, ‘evening’, ‘cleaning’ and ‘off’. Having worked with the Chef Director before, we knew he is very particular – so we selected a system which they could easily adjust themselves, to get the ambience just right

FOOTBALLER RESIDENCE – MIDLANDS

HOME BUILDING SHOW HOME FOR DULUX PAINT

We were a bit nervous when we were asked to present our ideas to Dulux’s Creative Director, who is also a renowned interior designer. We were delighted when their response was simply, “Yes. We like it.” We did the lighting design and supplied a 4k 55” display with specially adapted footage, in-ceiling speakers for the audio, and some Lutron lighting control.

CIRCADIAN LIGHTING & SEVERAL SKY CEILING PROJECTS – CHRISTIE HOSPITAL MANCHESTER

Our involvement started with the selection, supply and commissioning of one of the very first circadian lighting control systems in the UK. This was in an area of the hospital where there was no natural light. The Sky ceilings were to help the patients, and staff, have some feel for the time of day. We went on to be involved in several other installations at Christie.

VIDEO VIRTUAL WINDOWS – CHRISTIE HOSPITAL MANCHESTER

We programmed, commissioned and installed 8 video windows into wards with no natural daylight. The staff and patients can select a ‘view’ from any of the 8 videos, or a setting where the sunrise video comes on at dawn and progresses through the different videos for different times of day, ending with a sunset video at dusk. When we first got involved, it sounded like a gimmick, but having seen the effect they have on the patients (who are pretty much in the ‘last chance saloon of cancer treatment) we believe it was a hugely worthwhile project.

SPECIALIST LIGHTING CONTROLS – YEOVIL HOSPITAL SPECIAL BABY CARE UNIT

This was a fascinating project to be involved with. We were asked to set up the lighting control, but this project had some special requirements. The system was used for lighting wards for babies which had been born prematurely. Too much light is harmful to them – so we had very strict light levels to adhere to for day time and night time, and that the lights can not ‘accidentally’ go any brighter. This involved more than just setting brightness, as the lights themselves had to be ‘trimmed’ so the maximum light levels can never be exceeded

TOY SHOP – KENT

A system to entertain children, and drive footfall to the shop. Every couple of minutes the ‘game’ changes from football, to squatting flies, and splashing in ponds, and many more.

VIDEO SKY CEILING – KENSINGTON, LONDON

A very high end residential project where a room decorated in black marble needed ‘brightening up’. On challenge was that we were not allowed and tabs, or levers to release/secure the display. We used a motorised bracket in the end to position the display perfectly, and still support installation and any maintenance

CINEMA ROOM - BIRMINGHAM

This 21 seat cinema room is embellished with a 3m projection screen, full surround sound system and a 4k projector. A Bluray DVD player, and media player was also provided. The client can also connect their own media, as well as stream from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, etc

AUDIO, VIDEO, CINEMA & LIGHTING CONTROL – SURREY

A property developer project again using a Lutron Homeworks lighting control system. The project also included a cinema room and cabling for adding audio, video and whole house control. We also supplied most of the lighting fixtures and fittings.

BOTH TOP FLOOR PENTHOUSES – BIRMINGHAM

We were involved in the refurbishment of both of the top floor penthouses in Beetham Tower. Each apartment was privately owned. Our works included: Adding a cinema system, reprogramming the Lutron Lighting controls, addition of a bathroom TV and revamping the lighting

NIGHT OF HERITAGE LIGHT – OXFORD

A wonderful evening working with the Society of Light & Lighting on their ‘Night of heritage Light’ project at Oxford. We worked with the amazing Projection Studio using 4 high powered projectors to deliver a looping 18 minute video display projected on to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Yes – we did do more than make the tea!

INTERACTIVE PROJECTION SYSTEM – AIREDALE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

A system to help distract children who about to undergo some pretty nasty treatments. Every couple of minutes the ‘game’ changes from football, to squatting flies, and splashing in ponds, and many more

AWARD WINNING KITCHEN AT GRAND DESIGNS LIVE

To make an award winning kitchen design a reality we were asked to come up with a virtual fireplace and aquarium for intoto Kitchen’s display at the Grand Designs Exhibition. To enhance the effect we used ultra-widescreen displays, and custom edited video to trick the brain in to thinking they were real.
